Martin Levine, 95…. formerly of Miami Beach and Haines City, Fl., and currently of Hendersonville NC, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Wednesday November 25th. He was the son of William and Betty Levine, and the brother of the late Arthur and Stanley Levine. Martin was born January 8, 1920 in Brooklyn New York, and moved to Miami at the age of 12. He was a graduate of Miami Beach High School, and attended the University of Florida before enlisting in the Army Air Force in 1943. While a 2nd Lieutenant in the Air Force he piloted multiple aircraft including the B-29 Super Fortress Bomber. During his enlistment he met and married Christine Hazel Danley of Opp, Alabama on June 1, 1944. After his military service he returned to Miami Beach where he managed various hotels, including becoming the first general manager of the Doral Country Club in Miami, Fl. Beginning in 1950 during the summer months he and his wife Christine (Tina), would travel to Hendersonville to operate Lakeside Inn on Lake Osceola, and Golfers Lodge. In 1962 Martin and Tina purchased Camp Lakeside for boys and girls which was renamed to Camp Mountain Lake. In 1967 Martin and Tina purchased Camp Pinewood located on Orrs Camp Road, a children’s resident summer camp they operated until his retirement in 1987.

Martin became an avid golfer and enjoyed many years on the links with Tina, numerous friends, and sons Jack and Ron. He was proceeded in death by his wife Tina, and daughter in law Christine . He is survived by his two sons Jack and Ron, grandchildren Gracie, Zachary, Ashley, and Kelley, daughter in law Kimberly, cousin Elenor Balaief, and longtime companion Sima Zimmerman.
