Gloria Marie Elizabeth Rose Strauss, age 11, passed peacefully on September 21, 2007 at Childrens Hospital and Reginal Medical Center in Seattle with her family at her side. Gloria is survived by her mother and father, Doug and Kristen Strauss; brothers and sisters, Alissa, Maria, Joseph, Anthony, Samuel, and Vincent. Grandparents, Diane and Stephen Strauss and Patrick and Victoria Trimberger and many aunts and uncles. Gloria is an inspiration to thousands of people not only in Seattle but the country. Her inspirational battle was followed by reporter Jerry Brewer and photographer Steve Ringman of the Seattle Times. Her deep love for her family and her faith in Jesus Christ has forever touched many lives. You can read about Gloria's journey by going to gloriastrauss.org. Gloria was a 6th grader at St. Philomena (the saint of light) Catholic School in Des Moines, Washington and attended St.Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Federal Way, Washington where she and her family live. Her favorite color is pink. Gloria loved to dance and told her parents that she will be dancing with Jesus in heaven. Gloria loved to pray and in times of great pain Gloria and her family and friends would pray the rosary in her hospital room and the pain would stop. Gloria was more concerned with all the sick children in the hospital and would direct her prayers toward their pain and suffering for their healing rather than her own. Testimonies from people around the country who have been following Gloria's journey are being changed. People who are being deeply touched by God's love through her faith and strength. Gloria's nickname is "GLOW" and "Glorified by Gloria" is a common saying in family and friends circles. Gloria's dad Doug Strauss is in the beginning stages of co-authoring a book with reporter Jerry Brewer about gloria's life and 4 year battle with cancer. Doug Strauss is also starting a venture of speaking engagements around the country in gloria's memory about cancer awareness. Gloria also has a group on facebook.com

"After a 4-year battle with cancer, Gloria received her miracle this morning, passing into our Heavenly Father's hands. Gloria's courageous battle has inspired us to deeper faith and has taught to love, suffer, and most of all pray. Let her short life of 11 years be an example to each of us as we walk through the days of our lives." First statement from Gloria's family after her passing.
