Mr. John Oldenkamp, age 89, of Orange City, formerly of Hospers, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2020, at the Orange City Area Health System.

There will be a funeral service on Thursday, October 15, at 11:30am, at the First Presbyterian Church in Hospers. The Rev. Brian Hartman will officiate. Interment will follow at the Hospers Cemetery near Hospers. Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Hospers.

We politely ask on behalf of the family, that masks be worn at the service.

John Junior was born on August 26, 1931, in Hospers, the son of John Sr. and Fannie (Verdoorn) Oldenkamp. He was raised in Hospers, where he attended the Hospers Public School.

On April 12, 1951, he was united in marriage to Joan Dykstra in Orange City. They made their home in Hospers, where in earlier years Junior was a co-owner of OK One Stop and J&J Hardware, before working as a manager for Atlas Concrete in Sheldon. After having lived in Hospers for more than 68 years, Junior and Joan moved to the Pioneer Memorial Home in Orange City on June 1, 2019.

Mr. Oldenkamp was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hospers and had been a volunteer fireman for the Hospers Fire Department. He and Joan enjoyed traveling south for the winter months and he liked to play Bingo and card games.

Survivors include his wife of more than 69 years; two daughters and their husbands, Jane and Jerry Beltman, of Hospers, and their family, Kristi (Shane) Fuller, of Norwalk; Mark (Nicole) Beltman, of Orange City; and Brad (LuCinda) Beltman, of Waukee; and Nancy and Larry Bosma, of Hospers, and their family, Natalie (Joshua) Sandbulte, of Milford; Mike (Jen) Bosma, of Hospers; and Kevin (Kim) Bosma, of Sioux Center; a son and his wife, Doug and Carolyn Oldenkamp, of Corning; sixteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Gilbert Oldenkamp, of Squim, Washington; a sister, Jan, and her husband, Alvin Kyhl, of Mesa, Arizona; and two sisters-in-law, Darlene Oldenkamp, of Leeds, and Shirley Dykstra, of St. Paul, Minnesota.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Luke Oldenkamp, James Oldenkamp, and Harry Oldenkamp; and a brother-in-law, George Dykstra.

Memorials may be directed to the Orange City Area Home Health and Hospice.
