Morris – Richard “Butch” Tompkins passed away on September 10, 2020 at the age of 72.

He was born on January 19, 1948 in New Milford, Connecticut to Dudley and Catherine (Kaiser) Tompkins. He grew up in Washington, Connecticut and attended Washington School or as he would say he was studying to be an astronaut because he took up “space”.

He was a housepainter, owning his own business with his brother, Bill. He was a jack of all trades. Butch was a true old Yankee, he could figure out how to do or fix anything. He loved his family, dogs, old cars and Trucks, driving fast, classic looney tunes, his recliner, Harleys, drag racing and The Price is Right. He liked working around his house and yard. We will miss his stories and his sense of humor.

He leaves behind his wife Holly, daughters; Inga Lee Puentes and husband Dave of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Jaime Tartaglino of Torrington, CT, two granddaughters; Samantha Tartaglino and Giana Puentes, his dog Roscoe and the cat Oreo. He was predeceased by his brothers; Oscar, Warren, Harold and Bill.

We would like to give a special thanks to the Foothills VNA Hospice nurses who helped in caring for Butch.

Memorial contributions in Butch’s memory may be made to Foothills VNA, 32 Union Street, Winsted, CT 06098.

A graveside service will take place at Milton Cemetery on Blue Swamp Road in Milton on Wednesday, September 16 at 2:00pm.Attendees are asked to please observe social distancing and wear mask.
