70-Year-Old Mother of 13 Passes Away

Mrs. Mary Smiley Cauble, 70, year old mother of 13 children and wife of Jacob P. Cauble, died at the family residence, 1119 West Sixth Street, at 10:45 p.m. Friday after an illness of more than a year. Funeral services will be held at ten o’clock Monday with interment in the Lucas cemetery.

Mrs. Cauble is a native of Monroe county, having been born here to William and Jane Lucas Fender on July 16, 1875. She was educated in the county school system and has lived here during her lifetime.

In addition to the husband, she is survived by nine children. They are Mrs. Roscoe Burton, Mrs. George Pate, Mrs. Samuel Gray, Robert Smiley, and Mrs. George Lawyer all of Bloomington; Charles W. Smiley of Ellettsville, Mrs. Claude Meadows of Bedford, John Smiley of Beech Grove, and Wilford Smiley of Ohio. She also leaves one brother, George Bender (sic) of Guthrie, 38 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
