Martha, “Mert”, as she was often known, was born on July 8, 1932, in Knightsville, Indiana, the daughter of William and Florence (Jackson) Morgan. She graduated from Van Buren High School with the class of 1950. Martha married Roy F. Hunter on September 9, 1950; he preceded her in death after 59 years of marriage. She worked as a clerk at Judeans and the Gallery of Fashion and she also worked the polls during elections for many years.
She loved traveling, especially to Gulf Shores, going on nature walks with her granddaughters, sitting on the patio with family enjoying a beverage, and she could always be found reading a good book.
Martha will be forever remembered for her quick wit and style.
She was preceded in death by her parents William and Florence Morgan; her husband Roy F. Hunter Sr.; a sister Margaret Ann Landsee.
Survivors include her daughter Jane Neier of Brazil; son Roy F. Hunter Jr. and wife Cathy of Brazil; grandchildren: Carrie Metz and husband Tom, Amy Neier, and Hannah Woodward and husband Josh; greatgrandchildren: Hunter Metz, Liam Woodward, Aria Woodward, and Noah Woodward; she is also survived by a niece and four nephews, a sister-in-law Suzanne Howes and husband LeRoy Howes.
Martha would want to be remembered with laughter and her sense-of-humor; not in sadness and tears.
Martha’s family would like to extend their greatest appreciation to the caregivers at Cloverleaf Health Care and Heart – To – Heart Hospice for their love and kindness.
