A memorial funeral service for Richard will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at the Carlisle Christian Church. A visitation will begin at 10:00 AM prior to the service. Interment with military honors will follow in Avon Cemetery.
Those left to cherish his life are his two sisters, Irene (Royal) Hedgecock and Ruby Robinson; two daughters, Deborah (Luis) Leeper Moreno and Dixie (Doug) Griffith; and five grandchildren.

"Richard entered the service Feb. 19, 1951, at Des Moines, was sent to different camps for training and at the end of a year was made Corporal. In March 1952 the entries Regiment was sent Fort Hood, Texas, where they took part in the longest maneuver in the United States Army, several Regiments participating. On June 17, 1952, they received overseas orders, were sent to Fort Louton, Washington, then to Camp Drake in Japan. Was there assigned to Heavy Motor Company 19th Infantry Regiment, 24th Division, stationed at Camp Hougen, Japan. While in Japan they were given amphibious and further training. On Jan. 6, 1953, they were ordered home. Released from active duty Feb. 3, 1953, with rank of Corporal."
