She was born on September 10, 1941 in Pueblo, Colorado, the daughter of William and Gladys Wiggington Cox. She was a resident of Scott County, Kansas, since 1957, having moved from Modesto, California. She worked as a certified nurse's assistant and as served as an EMT until 1997.
