Jesse E. Newton, 85, of Roanoke, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, September 19, 2007. Jesse was born on April 25, 1922 in Roanoke, Va. and served our country during WW II with the United States Air Force.

He ran Newton's Garage for over 52 years in Cloverdale and enjoyed golf, baseball, basketball and NASCAR racing. He was a member of VFW Post #1841 and was a Charter Member of Blue Hills.

Jesse is predeceased by his parents, Jesse M. and Grace Newton and a sister, Morene Turmbull.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Catherine (Cat) Newton; daughters, Kathy Agee and her husband, Rick, and Nancy Scott and her husband, Ronnie; son, Mark Newton; grandson, Chris Scott; sisters, Aundria and Pam and her husband, Jerry; brother, Phil Newton and his wife Elaine; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends including special friend, Chris Myers.

Friends are welcome to call on Thursday, September 20, 2007 from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Friday, September 21, 2007 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road, Daleville where a service celebrating Jesse's life will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2007 at 10 a.m. in Rader's Chapel with the Rev. Carter Sloan officiating. Interment at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Rader Funeral Home.
