Mary Bush, 82, of Belle Fourche died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007 at Spearfish Regional Hospital surrounded by her family.

She was born in LaCrosse, Wis., on July 28, 1925 to John and Meta (Weber) Lampert. Her mother died when Mary was 11 and her father raised her. A farmer, her father had a milk route and worked at a commission company.

Mary was 19 when she moved to Belle Fourche. Her first job was on the McKay Ranch west of town. She also worked for Clarence and Edith Fischel and the Oslaands.

She married Lyle Bush in 1955 at Whitewood. They had five children, four boys and one girl. They moved from the Whitewood area to the Nisland area where they farmed and ranched. Both worked at the sales barns in the area. Mary milked cows and sold milk and loved riding horseback.

They moved to Fruitdale around 1965. Lyle was killed in a trucking accident in 1972. Mary took over driving truck until 1987. Mary had worked at the sale barns in the area off and on for 37 years. She retired from the sale barn Jan. 1, 1990.

In 1986 she served as the parade Marshall at the 67th annual Black Hills Roundup parade and rodeo. In 1992 she was recognized for her many years of service to the Butte County 4-H Rodeo. In 1995 Mary was the second recipient awarded the Agri-Business Person of the Year.

She is survived by her sons, Charles John (Linda) Bush of Fairbank, Iowa and Duane "Gabby" (Kelly) Bush of Belle Fourche; grandchildren, Ryan (Jenny) Bush, Robin Bush, Alexandra Bush and Paige Bush; great-grandchild, Spencer Bush and special friends, Jeanette Odle, Jerry and Fern Olson and Renae Collins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lyle Bush, sons, Gary Bush and Tommy Bush and daughter, Donna Bush.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 22 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Belle Fourche with the Reverend Buck Malone officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Slope Cemetery in Belle Fourche.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Butte County 4-H.
