Services for Wealthy Consuelo Babcock, 94, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Presbyterian Manor chapel with the Rev. Donald K. Sinclair officiating. Cremation is planned and inurnment will be in Pioneer Cemetery.

Miss Babcock died Tuesday at Presbyterian Manor.

She was born Nov. 18, 1895, on a farm in Washington County. After graduating from Washington County High School in 1913, she taught for two years in one-room country school houses at Liberty School and then Lone Mound. She graduated from Kansas University in 1919 and taught mathematics at Neodesha High School for one year. In 1920, she returned to KU to teach mathematics. She received a master's degree in 1922 and a doctorate in 1926. She retired in 1966 as an associate professor of mathematics.

Miss Babcock was a member of the American Mathematical Society, the Mathematical Association of America, and several honor societies including Phi Beta Kappa, Sigma Xi, Pi Mu Epsilon and Pi Lambda Theta. She served for 20 years on the Alumni Registration Committee for Commencement and spent 40 years on various committees on scholarships, aid and awards.

In 1934, she began supervising orders and purchases for KU's Mathematics Library. In 1964, Dr. G. Baley Price, mathematics department chairman, announced a change in name of the library to the Wealthy Babcock Mathematics Library in recognition of her years of service to the library and students and faculty who used it.

Miss Babcock was an avid fan of KU sports. She attended her first football game in 1915 and her first basketball game in 1916 and was a member of the Quarterback Club for more than 60 years. She also was a member of the KU women's basketball team in her student days.

During a Journal-World interview in 1986, she said it was her 70th year for owning season basketball tickets.

Miss Babcock was elected to the KU Women's Hall of Fame in 1973. In 1977, she received the Fred Ellsworth Medallion, the KU Alumni Association's highest award for service to the university. She received her 50-year pin from KU in 1979.

Survivors include a nephew, Dale Babcock, Lincoln, Neb.; and several great-nephews, great-nieces, great-great-nephews and great-great-nieces.
