Mrs. Ida Louise Martin, affectionately known as Aunt Shane, passed away at Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center on Sunday morning July 26, 2020. She was born on November 18, 1923, to the late James Edward Hutchinson and the late Ida Woodard. Aunt Shane was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Martin. Aunt Shane did not have any children, however, she cared for others as if they were her own. Those that had the opportunity to be in her care speak nothing but fond memories of the times they spent with her, she was loved and will be missed by all her brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews. Aunt Shane was employed for many years at Upson County Hospital Cafeteria. She was well known for her delightful dishes and especially her incredible Fried Chicken and Red Velvet Cake. Aunt Shane was unable to see in the same sense as most of us in this world but it did not stop her from living a long and full life. She lived many years on her own cooking and taking care of herself for as long as she could. She was an amazing woman that displayed courage and great strength with an amazing sense of humor. She would often say, when complimented on how well she looked, I know my eyes are bad but I didn’t know yours were too” or you sure you can see”. We all enjoyed and will forever remember the clever and sassy ways she brought love and joy to our hearts. Aunt Shane, from the family and many friends you leave behind, we want you to know you will be terribly missed and hope and pray to see you again. Revelation 21: 3, 4, “The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more nor will mourning nor out cry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” From the family, we would like to thank all of those who loved and cared for Aunt Shane during her last days. Your dedicated love and kindness will always be appreciated. The Bible says at 1 Thessalonians 3:7 “Friends in all our distress and tribulation, we have been comforted because of you and the faithfulness and kindness you have demonstrated.” You certainly are appreciated and will be in our prayers for the love you’ve shown in the way you took such great care of our Aunt Shane. May our Heavenly Father Jehovah God continue to bless you and your families for all that you have done
