Obituary of Herbert Wayne Clark
Funeral services for Herbert Wayne Clark, age 81, of Roanoke, will be held Thursday, October 15, 2020, at 2:00 pm at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Bro. Rickey Cannon and Bro. Jamie Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Clacksville.

The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 12 noon on Thursday.

Mr. Clark died Saturday, October 10, 2020, at Regional Medical Center.

Pallbearers will be Kent Wilson, Bob Johnson, Chance Cofield, Chris Taylor, Doug Matthews, and Barry Stephens. Honorary pallbearers will be Fire Department personnel.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Ann Allen Clark of Roanoke; one daughter, Salena Holloway of Roanoke; one son, Mike Clark (Audrey Lynn) of Birmingham; grandchildren: Jon-Micheal Clark (Courtney), Caleb Clark (Mary Beth), Colby Holloway, Jurnee Holloway (Tyler Henderson); great-grandchildren: Wheeler Clark, Samuel Clark, Waylon Henderson, Haddon Clark; one sister, Hattie Mae Langley (J.T.) of Auburn.

A Chambers County native, Mr. Clark was born August 15, 1939, the son of James Alfonso and Eleanor Sue East Clark. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was Chairman of the Deacon Board. He also oversaw the cemeteries at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and at New Hope Cemetery in Clacksville. Mr. Clark served as Assistant Chief of the Mt. Olive Fire Department in Chambers County for over 30 years. He was employed in maintenance at Uniroyal in Opelika for 22 1/2 years, worked in construction and as a bulldozer operator. Mr. Clark was preceded in death by his parents and a son, James Robert “Jimmy” Clark.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Mt. Olive Fire Department (2209 Co Rd 237, Roanoke, AL 36274) or to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church (3105 Co Rd 237, Roanoke, AL 36274) in his memory.
