Denny was born on October 11, 1933 in Watertown, SD to Clayton and Della (Handorf) Bradshaw. He graduated from Watertown High School in 1951 and then entered the US Navy in 1951 at the age of 17. During his Navy career all during the Korean War he first served on the US Gilmore. He then attended submarine school in New York and was assigned duty on the USS Chopper. One interesting part of his career was getting called to the captain’s quarters and was asked where he learned to type. He answered in high school and the captain replied, you can thank your typing teacher because you are being transferred to Norfolk, VA. Denny was then assigned as a message decoder working with NATO.

After he was honorably discharged from the navy he attended SDSU for Biology and Wild Life Management for two years.

Denny married Jo Anne Enger on August 25, 1956.

Denny began his career at Midland National Life Insurance and worked there for over 20 years. He worked for about a year as an insurance representative for the Knights of Columbus. He was the manager of the Watertown Title Company. Denny concluded his employment career as an appraiser for First Federal Bank.

He loved to visit and tell jokes. He had a beautiful tenor voice. Denny loved hunting, especially with his son and grandson. He also enjoyed fishing and camping.

He truly cherished his family and animals, especially enjoyed his basset hounds, Mindy and Bailey, and any other dog he met.

He will be missed by Jo Anne, his loving wife of 64 years; his son, Jeff (Natalie); his daughter, Julie (Jeff) Mollenhoff; and his three grandchildren, Allison Bradshaw Johnson, Kyle Bradshaw and Jenna Mollenhoff; and his great grandson, Gibson Johnson.

Denny is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ed Bradshaw; his sister, Barbara Drake; his sister-in-law, Mona Bradshaw; and his brother-in-law, Richard Drake.
