Sarah was the daughter of the Hon. Alden Spooner and his wife Sarah Burton. She is a Mayflower Descendant. She married Abner Forbes in Windsor on 4 Sep 1805. She is the mother of 13 children: Sarah Spooner (Forbes) Phelps, Edward Forbes, Martha H. Forbes, Francis Spooner (Forbes) Hatch, Maria (Forbes) Hodge, Arabella (Forbes) Bowen, Sarah Spooner Forbes, Spooner Forbes, Susan Forbes, Gustavus Forbes, Charles Hunting Forbes, Oliver Forbes, and Abner Forbes.
