Kimberly Jean (Kirk) Farris passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at her home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born August 1, 1960 in Kansas City, Missouri to Harry E. (Tom) and Barbara Faye (Whitten) Kirk. Kim spent her childhood in Independence, Missouri and graduated from Truman High School. She began work at Southwestern Bell where she met Joel Farris and they married October 30, 1982. Kim moved to the Lake of the Ozarks area and became mother to Lindsay and Kirk Farris. She worked for the Camdenton School system while attending college to earn a degree to pursue her dream of teaching. Kim worked for the Richland School system as the Middle School Language Arts teacher for 8 years before retiring in 2016. Teaching and mentoring young people were some of her greatest joys.

Kim is survived by her parents, her brother Bruce Kirk and wife Tammy of Kansas City, Missouri; her sister Krista Beard and husband Richard of Blue Springs, Missouri; her husband Joel of Linn creek; daughter Lindsay Walters and husband Justin of Richland, Missouri; son Kirk Farris and wife Courtney of Nixa, Missouri; and her grandchildren Allie Grace and Miya Catherine Walters of Richland, Missouri. She is also survived by many Aunts and Uncles, cousins, and her many students who call her “Mom”.

A Celebration of Life Service was held Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 5:00 pm at Community Christian Church of Camdenton.
