Steven Ray Bennett, 61, of Marshalltown, Iowa, died on Saturday, January 4, 2014, at his home. Funeral services at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints.

Steve was born on June 10, 1952, the son of Charles and Norma (Levis) Bennett in Marshalltown. He graduated from LDF High School in LeGrand.

Steve served his country in the Marines during the Vietnam era. He earned a BA in psychology from Buena Vista College. Steve married Eui Baccam on April 1, 1978, in Marshalltown. Steve was employed with the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown as a Recreational Therapist for 30 years.

He enjoyed hunting, biking, running, and was an avid Iowa State Cyclone fan. He was a cherished and beloved husband, brother, father, uncle, and grandfather. Patient, merciful and kind, Steve was more than simply a friend to many; he was a father figure, mentor, and guide.

Surviving are his wife, Eui, a daughter; Susan Gomez of Omaha, Nebraska; a son, Christopher Bennett of Marshalltown; three grandchildren, Mackaylie, Mariah, and Cassandra Sponseller; a brother, Charles (Cindy) Bennett of Marshalltown; four sisters Karen (Mot) Fuller, Wheatland, Wyoming, Florence (Gary) Dezell of Big Lake, Minnesota, April (Don) Crow of Casper, Wyoming, and Kim (Wes) Walters of Woodland Park, Colorado.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Glen Bennett.
