Katherine Epp, age 94 of Henderson, NE, died Friday, February 2, 2007 at Henderson. She was born on July 4, 1912 on a farm near Aurora, NE to Gerhard and Agnatha (Friesen) Hiebner. On October 22, 1935 she was united in marriage to Herman J. Epp at her parents farm. Katherine and her husband farmed until moving into Henderson in 1964. She then assisted her husband with custodial duties at the Bethesda Mennonite Church for 22 years and also worked at the Henderson School for 19 years in the lunch program. Katherine was a member of the Bethesda Mennonite Church where she taught Sunday school for 19 years. She was a member of Mission Circle #1 and the Cheerful Homemaker Club. Katherine took pleasure in quilting, gardening, and most of all her family.
Left to cherish Katherine's memory is son: Myron (JoAnn) Epp of Henderson; two daughters: Elvera Epp of Henderson and Shirley (Dr. Dennis) Ries of Freeman, SD; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters: Agnes Hiebner of Henderson and Elizabeth Nunnenkamp of Cosby, MO; brother George Hiebner of Henderson; daughters-in-law Pam Epp of Newton, KS and Ardith Epp of Henderson; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, two sons: Darrel and Dennis; six brothers: Henry, Thomas, Harry, Albert, Cornelius, and Irvin; and two sisters: Anna Buller and Margaret Peters.
Funeral Services were held Wednesday, February 7, 2006 at the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson with the Revs. Weldon Martens and George Kaufman officiating. Interment was in the Bethesda Mennonite Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Bethesda Mennonite Church Radio Fund.
