Albert Doty was born in Sterling, Whiteside Co., Illinois March 15, 1870 to Philander and Elizabeth Fowler Doty. He also lived in Coffey County, then Elk County in Kansas. He was married October 25, 1900 in the Probate Judge's office in Howard, Kansas to Lydia Ann Linebaugh. They moved to Independence after their marriage. Albert and Anna had four children: Delsa R.; Doris; Henry Blaine and Elizabeth. Albert worked for the Crystal Ice and Fuel Co. in Independence for many years. However, he was injured at work and later died due to his injuries. Anna sued the ice company, and was awarded $3800. This decision was affirmed by the Kansas State Supreme Court in February, 1927.
