She attained a Bachelor of Library Science. On June 15, 1946, Della married Robert E. Sell and together they raised three sons and a daughter.
Della began her work at the University of Michigan first as a telephone operator, became a dental assistant (RDA, CDA), then became Assistant to the Director of Clinics and finished her career as a Manager of Dental Stores.
She was a member of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Portage, Michigan and was a life-long crafter who was skilled in knitting, crocheting, sewing and quilt making.
She is survived by her children Daryl (Maggie) Sell, Darwin (Rhonda) Sell, Dina (Fred) Waddell; daughter-in-law, Katina Sell; grandchildren, Cara Wegrzyn, Matthew Sell, Rene Zweig, Corey Sell, Jeremy Sell, Justin Sell, Cameron Sell, Lane Sell, Nathan Sell, Joshua Waddell and Janessa Copenhafer; and 17 great-grandchildren. Della was pre-deceased by her parents, husband, son, Douglas E. Sell, granddaughter, Amy E. Sell and brother, Dean Burkhardt.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 3, at Muehlig Funeral Chapel 403 South Fourth Avenue, Ann Arbor. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be private at Bethlehem Cemetery, Ann Arbor.
