He served in the United States Air Force and retired from Whirlpool after 42 years. He was a member of St. Johns Catholic Church in Vincennes. He was a former Mason, a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, a Past Patron of the Odd Fellows, a former member of Princeton Country Club and PCHS Wrestling Club, and former wrestling scorekeeper at Gibson Southern.
Ronald is survived by his children, Elaine Marie Ferguson of Princeton, Ronald Charles Barnett (Shelley) of Valparaiso; Dr. John Arthur Barnett (Laurie) of Oakland City; grandchildren, Jillian Elaine Engler, Melanie Kay Evans, Torrey Edward Chavis, Talia Rochelle Chavis, Tyler Jo Barnett, Brandi Nicole Smith, Ashlynn Marie Barnett, Mackenzee Meredith Hutchinson and Madison Breanne Barnett; and great grandchildren, Kaleb & Kendal Engler, Noah & Aubrey Evans, Camden & DeClan Chavis, Ally & Ben Chavis and Marshall Hutchinson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Billie Jean (Thorne) Barnett in 2016; and sister, Bernita Marie Jones.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2020 with Pastor Curt Beadle officiating. Burial will follow at Hazleton Community Cemetery in Hazleton. Military rites will be provided by Retired Military Veterans. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Due to the COVID-19 virus, seating will be limited and masks and social distancing are required.
