Mr. Willard Douglas Jones, Sr., 93, of Metter, passed away on Monday, October 5, 2020, at his residence under the care of Kindred Hospice, surrounded by his loving family.

Willard was born on September 16, 1927, in Crawfordville, GA, to the late William Marshall Jones, Sr. and Laura Stewart Jones. He lived most of his life in McDuffie County before moving to Metter ten years ago.

He was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S.Marine Corps. After his discharge from the Marines, he later retired as Construction Engineer with Ft. Gordon after many years of loyal service.

He was a member of Cedar Street Baptist Church and Raysville Bass Masters in Thomson. In his spare time enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his brother, William Marshall Jones, Jr.; and sisters, Anna Laura Hubert and Margaret Lipscomb.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Attebery Jones, of Metter; sons: Willard Douglas Jones, Jr. and his wife, Emily, of Ellijay, GA, Andrew Mitchell “Mitch” Jones and his wife, Nancy, of Evans, GA, and Willard Marshall “Mark” Jones, of Prosperity, SC; daughters, Cynthia Kay Jones, of Ellijay, GA, and Lisa Gayle Matoy, of Warner Robins, GA; grandchildren, Aaron Dye, Jennie Matoy, Samantha, and Mallory Jones; one great-grandchild; brother, Bobby Wayne Jones and his wife, Mary Anne, of Crawfordville, GA; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
