Long time Lafayette resident Mildred (Jerry) Chambers passed away Monday September 21, 2020 at Frasier Health Care Center in Boulder at the age of 98.
Jerry was born October 13, 1921 in Cement Oklahoma to Eliza and Elsa Sumners. She married Jake H. Chambers November 16, 1938. The farmed in Oklahoma before moving to Colorado in 1952.
Jerry worked for Roberts Grocery Store in Lafayette for 30 years. After retiring she volunteered for the Lafayette Senior Center and the Nusing Clinic.
She was always active and loved to work in her flower and rose gardens, enjoyed cooking, oil painting, bowling, woodworking and crafts, fishing, swimming, dancing, ceramics, embroidery, being around family and was an impeccable house keeper. She also enjoyed watching the Colorado Rockies and the Denver Broncos.
In addition to her hobbies, she was well traveled as she visited China, alaska, Hawaii, Mexico, Branson Missouri, Nashville Tennessee and various other US states.
She is preceded in death by her husband Jake Chambers and oldest son Jim Chambers. She is survived by her daughter Charlotte (Rich)Zabler of Broomfield, son Phil(Doloros) Chambers ofFort Collins, six grandchildren, 4 great- grandchildren, and 2 great great-grandchildren.
