In her formative years, she attended William Hooper Councill High School.
Ella professed hope in Christ at an early age and joined Blackburn Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where she quickly became a participant of the Number two Usher Board; she remained a faithful member until her health failed her.
Known for her great cooking, baking, gardening and sewing abilities, she took great pride in cooking delicious food and making beautiful garments for her family and friends.
Ms. Ella leaves to cherish her loving memories, two daughters: Birtha M. Fletcher and Yvonne R. Edwards of Huntsville, Alabama; one son, Charles O. Edwards of Huntsville, Alabama; two brothers: George L. Edwards and Jessie L. Edwards (Barbara) of Huntsville, Alabama; one sister, Susie Moore of Huntsville, Alabama; one aunt, Jean Binion (Carl) of Chicago, Illinois; six grandchildren: F. Diane Carter (Antonio) of Atlanta, Georgia, Brian Fletcher (Amber) of Scottsboro, Alabama, Angela Leslie of Huntsville, Alabama, Calvin Fletcher (Keri) of Decatur, Alabama, Charles O. Turner Edwards, Jr., (CJ) of Dothan, Alabama, and T’Mea Edwards of Huntsville, Alabama: twelve great-grandchildren, with Corynn L. Slaughter (Steven) of Summerville, South Carolina being the eldest and one great great-grandson, Roman L. Slaughter (Corynn & Steven); a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral service will be 12:30 p.m., Saturday, October 10, 2020 at the Royal Chapel of Memories (4315 Oakwood Avenue NW Huntsville, AL 35810) with Pastor Endia J. Scruggs officaiting. Interment will be in Meadowlawn Garden of Peace.
Public viewing will be held from 12:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Friday, October 9, 2020 and 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, Saturday, October 10, 2020 at the Royal Funeral Home.
