Death of Thomas Archer.

Thomas Archer died at 1 o'clock this morning at his home on Tennessee Prairie. Mr. Archer was 71 years of age and has lived in this county the past 21 years. He has been in very feeble health for the past twenty months. Mr. Thomas leaves the following children:

W. H. Archer, Saml. Archer, Mrs. John Rhodes, Mrs. P. A. Baysinger, of this city, and Mrs. John Binderim, Mrs. Lincoln Murry and Mrs. Dave Sweeten, of Tennessee Prairie.

Funeral services will be held at 1 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the family residence, conducted by Rev. F. W. Otto. Interment will be made in the Galena cemetery.

7th Tennessee Calvary, Co. B, sergeant, enlisted for 3 years in Paducah, KY on 1/22/64 and mustered in at Columbus, KY on 6/14/64 at age 31. He was 5'10" tall, fair complexion, yellow eyes, light hair, a farmer, born in Humphreys Co, TN on 12/18/32. Archer received a bounty of $300 for enlistment. He mustered out with the regiment at Nashville on 8/9/65. Archer married first Sarah J. Cunningham. He applied for an invalid pension in 1881 while living in Missouri. A member of Post #123 Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) in Baxter Springs, Cherokee Co, KS, Archer died in Clinton, Kansas in January 1900 according to the pension application. Another source says he died on 6/15/1904 and is buried in Galena, KS. He was survived by his second wife, Pernina, who applied for a widow's pension in Oklahoma in 1931.
