James S. Curry, Sr.
Services were held Friday, December 12, 1986 at 10:30 a.m. at Barker Funeral Home in Holstein, Iowa for James S. Curry, Sr. formerly of Lake City.
Interment was at Holstein Cemetery with Military Rites by the Service Organization of Storm Lake, Iowa.
James Simeon Curry, Sr., son of William Henry and Carrie Mae Edmunds Curry, was born on January 10, 1908 in Kingsley, Iowa. His early years were spent in Kingsley, Lake City, Galva and Sac City areas. He received his education in the Lake City and Galva School Systems.
James was engaged in farming a good portion of his life and also worked at various other occupations including the rendering works at Sac city, a butcher shop in Lake City and Hy Grade of Storm Lake.
On May 9, 1948 in Colridge, Nebraska, he married to Edna Marie Christiansen of Holstein. The family lived in Storm Lake following their marriage and later moved to a farm north of Storm Lake. They became the parents of three children.
Mr. Curry died on December 9, 1986 at the Buena Vista County Hospital. He was a member of the Amvets and the United Methodist Church. He was dedicated to his farming occupation as long as health permitted. He enjoyed visiting with friends, taking care of his animals, gardening, fishing and at one time had been a member of the Galva town basketball team. Mr. Curry had served his country in the U. S. Navy on the battleship USS New York. The family had retired from farming and was living in rural Albert City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Carrie, and is survived by his wife Edna, daughters Jam (Mrs. Herman) Hauck of Humboldt, Iowa; Donna Curry and fiancé Rick Corrin of Alta, Iowa; a son James Ingwer Curry Jr., and two grandchildren. Also by a brother Harry and his wife Virginia of Lake City, Iowa and a sister Mrs. Helen Wellington also of Lake City.
