Charles I. Kenney, III, ("Charlie") a life-long resident of the West Bank, age 55, died of complications from diabetes on Sunday, 24 Apr 2011.
Son of Gwytha Telotta (Robert) and the late Charles I. Kenney, Jr. (Docia), father of Charles (Chaz) I. Kenney, IV (Julie), Courtney Lynn Lemoine (Jared), "Pappy" to Amelie, Adelyn & Annelise Lemoine, brother to Gwynne K. Shehane (Larry), Gretchen J. Kenney (Dan Rubin), Clifton E. Kenney, Ginette A. Kenney, Glynell K. Todd (Ron), Gaylinne C. Kenney & the late Gerri L. Kenney & step-brother to Michele Wilkerson. He is also survived by loving aunts, uncles, a nephew, nieces, many cousins & an unbelievable number of loyal & loving friends.
Charles graduated from O.P. Walker High School in 1974 & from UNO in 1996 with a BA in Elementary Education. He taught & coached in both public & parochial schools, & was beloved by many students, parents & teachers. His last position was with St. Rosalie Elem. School in Harvey. He was a member of the Greater N.O. Officials Assn. for 25 years as well as the Southeastern Umpire League & was an avid sports enthusiast. Charles enjoyed golf & was a loyal fan and supporter of the NY Yankees baseball & Univ. of Notre Dame football teams for the greater part of his life.
