Edna Wilson, age 95, passed away and she went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, October 2nd, 2020, at Galena Stauss Nursing Home in Galena, IL.
A graveside funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday, October 7th, at Scales Mound Township Cemetery.
Edna was born on Christmas Day, 1924, daughter of John and Emma (Zschaechner) Heideman.
She grew up in Shiocton, WI, and attended Shiocton schools. At a young age Edna met the love of her life, Roy Wilson. Soon after Edna finished school, she and Roy became married. Together the couple raised three children and celebrated 58 years of marriage. Edna will always be known as a hard worker, with a tireless work ethic. She worked for most of her life, either waitressing, working at A&P Grocery or at Abbot Labs. Edna’s work didn’t stop in the office, she would come home cook, clean and take care of her three children as well. She loved being a mother and a grandmother. In her later years, Edna would work just as hard for her family as she ever did. Edna was always giving and generous. She had a talent for sewing, which she shared with everyone. Beyond sewing and crocheting blankets and dresses for her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Edna volunteered her time making afghans and lap blankets for military veterans. Edna was also a master baker. Whoever had the fortune to try one of her cookies or homemade pies can attest that Edna’s baking was some of the best.
Edna will be dearly missed by two daughters, Maxine Buchholtz and Pauline (George) Curtiss; one daughter-in-law, Kathleen Wilson (Dugan); 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Edna is preceded in death by her husband, Roy; son, Roy Jr. and two brothers, John and Frank.
