Ashley made a peaceful transition to Heaven after an intense and courageous battle with esophageal cancer. His fighting spirit will remain an inspiration to all who knew and loved him. Ashley developed his "Tiger" spirit in his hometown of Beaver Falls where he was an integral part of the 1994 Beaver Falls High School state basketball champions.

Ashley served as a proud member of the United States Army from 1996 – 2000, and received an Army Achievement Medal for service as combat medical aidman, while in Bosnia. He graduated from ITT Technical Institute in 2002 with an Associates degree in the Electronics Engineering Technology program and established his home in Huntsville, Texas, where he was employed at Sam Houston State University as an Electronic Systems Specialist.

Survived by his wife, Emily, and his daughter, Madison Jo; his mother and stepfather, Joanna and Jim Greco; his father and stepmother, Dennis and Dolores Elkins; brother and sister in law, Shad and Michelle Elkins; stepbrothers, Vincent, Michael, and David Greco and Dillan and Holmes Dumez; mother and father in law, Suzanne and George Steed; brother in law, Adam Steed; Maternal grandmother, Thelma "Grammy" Smith; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Ashley was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, June G. Alderman; and his maternal grandfather, Leland Harold "Papa" Smith.
