Samuel L. “Sam” Wood, age 81, of Grove City formerly of Brookfield, OH passed at home while surrounded by his family on Saturday Evening, Oct. 3, 2020.
Sam was born in Lindsey, OK on Nov. 15, 1938 to Luther G. and Gladys M. (Prichard) Wood.
He married Sandra Lou “Sandy” Dilts on April 20, 1960; she preceded him in death on Jan. 9, 2006.
Sam later married Janet L. Guest Bonanni on Nov. 13, 2010.
He worked for P.I. & I. Motor Express as a diesel truck mechanic for 30 years. During those years Sam owned and operated Ohio Alternator and Starter in Masury. He retired from DeMay Heating, Masury where he worked for 14 years.
Sam was a member of Wayside Community Church. He served in the US Army from 1955 to 1959.
Sam was a member of the American Legion Post #432, Wheatland where he served as a member of the honor guard and he was a member of the VFW Post 6233, West Middlesex.
He is survived by his wife, Janet at home, 6 children, Shirley J. (Harvey) Ravenscraft, Dover, PA, Susan (Philip) Perry, Sr., Flatwood, KY, Sherry (Tom) Wagner, Finchville, KY and Shelia (Bill) Porterfield, Conneaut Lake, PA, Donald Bonanni, and Susan (Aaron) Brosneck, both Grove City, 24 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and 1st wife, a daughter, Mariellen Thorne, 2 sisters, Lilly M. Guthrie and Georgia Fay Hewitt, a grandson, Justin Griffin preceded Sam in death.
