Margaret Ann Pruett Baxter, 89, of Princeton, passed away October 1, 2020 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA. Born October 20, 1930 in North Tazewell, VA, she was the daughter of the late Willie Edward Pruett and Eula Mae Yates Pruett. Margaret was a 1949 graduate of Tazewell High School. She then met and married her husband Ralph C. Baxter and they moved to Princeton in 1951.

She was the former owner and operator of Baxter Ceramics and retired from First Community Bank Loan Department in Princeton after 20 years of service. She was a charter member of the Princeton Advent Christian Church where she served as first president and charter member of the Ladies’ Home and Foreign Mission. She was also former secretary and treasurer for the Pocahontas Conference Advent Christian Church. Margaret loved to travel, cook, and spend time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Ralph Baxter; sister-in-law, Betty Pruett; brother-in-law, R.W. Ball; and nephew, Barry Pruett. Survivors include one son, Brian Baxter and wife Sandi of Princeton; granddaughter, Ashleigh Whittaker and husband Tucker of Huntersville, NC; two great-grandsons, Aiden and Xander; two sisters, Betty Ball Balser and husband Reverend Glennon Balser of Abingdon, VA, and Carol Sue Beavers and husband Roger of Midlothian, VA; two brothers, Kenneth Pruett and wife Blanche of Ladson, SC, and Don Pruett of Collinsville, VA; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Melva and Grady Faulkner of Princeton, Goddaughter, Beth Richards and husband Jeff of Princeton, and Gerald and Faye Short of Oceana.

A service to celebrate Margaret’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Sam Walsh and Pastor Rob Buchanan officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
