SEPTEMBER 29, 1926 - OCTOBER 3, 2020
Velma Cain Loggins passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at the age of 94. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Annie Cain; brothers, Austin Cain, Frank Cain, and Claude Cain; sisters, Ruth Kemp and Martha Love; and her loving spouse of 72 years, Orbin Loggins. Mrs. Loggins is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Cathleen Statham (Herbert) and Lisa Janeen Dodson (Ronnie); her three sons, Dale Allan Loggins (Linda), Dennis Earl Loggins (Tricia), and William Austin Loggins (Melinda); fourteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends. In her early years Velma enjoyed painting ceramics, sewing, being a cub scout leader, and also enjoying holidays with her children, including dressing up for Halloween. She enjoyed camping with her husband, family and friends. She and Orbin would take long walks looking for wild flowers of which she always wanted to dig up and take home. She and Orbin enjoyed Citizen Band Radio, making friends all over the world. Their CB “handles” were names were Pedal Pusher and Den Mama. She was known for her fresh coconut cakes and giving away fresh vegetables to her Sunday school class. She was a member of the Adult III class. After his retirement, Orbin and Velma’s activities were always enjoyed together. When not camping or gardening, they sang with the Senior Adult Choir, Shepherd Center Choir, and the Adult Choir at First Baptist Church of Chalkville. They made many day trips with the ESP group of Chalkville Church. They regularly attended church even after physical disabilities prevented them from being in the choir. Both would sit in their wheelchairs singing along with the choir worshipping their Lord. Services will be held on Friday, October 9, 2020 at First Baptist Church of Chalkville with visitation beginning at 12 noon followed by services at 1 pm. Burial will be in Bethlehem Methodist Cemetery on Highway 79 in Locust Fork, AL.
