Millard V. Bills, 75, of Hixton, died Friday, May 23, 1997, at his home. . He was born Nov. 12, 1921, in Hixton Township, Jackson County, to Erwin and Lottie (Stoltz) Bills. He graduated from Hixton High School in 1939. He married Cleo Doud on April 15, 1944, in Black River Falls. She died on Sept. 17, 1987. He lived most of his life in the Hixton area and worked as a cement mason for various contractors in western Wisconsin and eastern Minnesota. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and liked to go camping with his
family. He served in the Army-Air Corps during World War II and he was a member of the Hixton - Taylor American Legion Post 368 and the Disabled American Veterans of Black River Falls. Survivors include two sons, Michael (Betty) Bills of Hixton, and Terry (Marian) Bills of Brownsville, MN.; and four grand-children; besides other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cleo; and a brother, Donald. Funeral services for Millard V. Bills were held at 11 a.m. May 27 at United Methodist Church -
Hixton. The Rev. William Swan officiated and burial, with military rites by the Hixton – Taylor American Legion, took place in the Sechlerville Cemetery, rural Hixton. Friends called Monday evening at the Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home, Hixton, and also at the church Tuesday prior to services. Casket bearers were Robert Batten, Gary Danielson, Mark German and Richard Lindahl. Honorary bearers were Allan Olson and Lyle West.
