Canadian Military Officer. Born the son of Canadian Senator Donald MacInnes, Duncan MacInnes graduated from the Royal Military College and received a commission as Second Lieutenant with the Canadian Engineers. Serving with distinction during the South African Boer War, Capt. MacInnes served in a variety of posts until 1914, when he was ordered to France with the outbreak of World War One. In 1917, now Brigadier General MacInnes was appointed Inspector of Mines with the Canadian Engineers. In May of 1918, he was accidentally killed while on active service at the front and was buried at Etaples Military Cemetery in France. His name is also remembered at the MacInnes family plot in his hometown of Hamilton, Ontario.
