Michael A. “Mike” Waters, age 67, passed away on Tuesday, September, 29, 2020, at Blue Valley Senior Living.

Mike was born on November 2, 1952, at Culver City, California, to Charles W. and Barbara (Jennings) Waters. He was born premature, weighing only three pounds. He grew up to be a star football player in High School. After high school he went to Harbor City College in Los Angeles, where he graduated with a degree in Communications and ran the college’s radio station. .

His passion was ministry, as a young man he sang with Young Life Singers, a Christian vocal group that performed across the nation. Later he was a Deacon and was the song leader/music director for his church in Carson, California, he also coached little league there. When he moved to Blue Rapids, he volunteered with the Waterville Youth Theater and was a Team Captain for Relay for Life.

For most of his career he worked as a road manager and sound technician for various music artists, and then as warehouseman. He married Kathy Bragunier at Carson, California, on November 15, 1980, they later divorced

He was known for his strong Christian faith and his love for the LA Dodgers. He loved to tell jokes and bring a little laughter to brighten someone’s day. His world revolved around his grandchildren.

Survivors include his daughter Shannon (Dino) Conti of Blue Rapids, a brother Charles Waters of Baja, Mexico and by four grandchildren.

Viewing is from noon to 8:00 pm, Monday, with visitation between 6:00 and 8:00 pm, at Terry-Christie Funeral Home in Waterville.

Funeral services are at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, October 6, 2020, at the First Baptist Church in Blue Rapids with Pastor Jeremy Henderson officiating.

Memorials are suggested to the “Michael Waters Memorial Fund” to be used for his grandchildren’s education and may be sent in care of Terry-Christie Funeral Home at PO Box 61, Waterville, Kansas 66548.
