Hall of Fame Major League Baseball Player. A MVP, Cy Young Award winner, and one of the greatest pitchers in Cardinals history, he spent his entire 17-year career with the Cardinals. He posted a career 2.91 ERA and recorded 251 wins. Gibson's 1968 season is considered one of the greatest in baseball history - he went 22-9 with a 1.12 ERA across 34 starts, earning MVP honors and playing a crucial role in the MLB's decision to lower the mound. Gibson would win the Cy Young again in 1970, after winning a career-high 23 games. He was a two-time World Series-winner, earning World Series MVP honors both times (1964, 1967). Gibson was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1981. He died at age 84 after battling pancreatic cancer.
