Samuel Lee Edwards, 69, of Hendersonville, passed away after an extended illness early Thursday evening, November 15, 2018 at the Elizabeth House of Flat Rock.

Mr. Edwards was born on Tuesday, January 25, 1949 to the late Thurman Lee and Margaret Lucille (Agnew) Edwards in Wilson. On June 25, 1988 in Smithfield, he married his loving wife of 30 years, the former Cynthia C. “Cindy” Walz who survives.

He also leaves behind to cherish his memory his three devoted children, Christopher E. Boren and his wife, Amber of Wake Forest, Jerry T. Smith, II of Everett, WA and Theresa E. Massengill and her husband, Wayne of Garner. Other survivors include his three wonderful grandchildren, Sydney, Dakota and Titus and a sister, Judy Harris and her husband, Ivey of Elm City.

Mr. Edwards was a school teacher for 42 years where he taught for 27 years in the Johnston County schools and for 15 years in the Buncombe County Schools systems, teaching both 5th and 6th grades. He was also the founder of the Comfort and Blessings Furniture Ministries. He was a devoted and committed teacher and business man, but more importantly a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 10 o’clock Saturday morning, December 1, 2018, at the Biltmore Church, 103 Education Drive Flat Rock, NC with Pastor Marcus Hayes officiating.
