Born Oct. 21, 1981, in Upper Black Eddy, he was the son of Marie (Katra) Herman, and the late James Michael Schmidt.
David was known to others as a Jack of many trades, as he would often be found helping others with odd jobs. He was adored by his nieces and nephew. He loved them so much, and, despite his struggles, he was a positive person in their lives. He will be sorely missed by the people whose lives he touched and called friends.
In addition to his mother, David is survived by: sisters Elizabeth A. Schmidt, of Upper Black Eddy, Catherine M. Schmidt, of Cheltenham, and Regina T. Schmidt, of Dublin. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by brother James D. Schmidt.
