Arlene Bishard Moore

Arlene Moore, 93, of Cambridge, died Thursday (October 1, 2020) at her home.

She was born June 29, 1927 in Cambridge, daughter of the late Frank Bishard and Julia (Finley) Bishard.

Mrs. Moore had worked at the former Holiday Inn of Cambridge in the housekeeping department for many years.

She was a member of the Pentecostal Church on South 7th Street.

She enjoyed listening to gospel music, cooking, baking, and taking rides in the countryside. She especially enjoyed traveling to Florida to visit her son, Don.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth “Skinny” Revere Moore, who died January 14, 1987; four sons, James Edward Moore, Clifford Moore, Francis Moore, and Walter Moore; three brothers, Carl Bishard, James Robert Bishard, and Franklin Bishard; twelve sisters, Helen, Ethel, Virginia, Bonnie, Alberta, Dorothy, Velma, Olive, Betty, and three infant sisters; and a grandson, Mark Pontius.

She is survived by eight sons, Bill Moore of Cambridge, Mickey Moore of Cambridge, Mike Moore of Cambridge, Jim Moore of Old Washington, Tom Moore of Cambridge, Randall Moore of West Virginia, Donald Moore of Cambridge, and Kenneth Moore of Cambridge; nine daughters, Shirley (Jim) Pontius of Cambridge, Patty Hamilton-Moore of Lore City, Margaret Johnson of Cambridge, Judy (Bill) Moss of Kimbolton, Nancy Gibbs of Cambridge, Brenda (Dale) Bucy of Byesville, Hazel (Mike) Stewart of Sidney, Mary Moore of Cambridge, and Sandra Moore of Cambridge; forty-one grandchildren; fifty-five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice of Guernsey Inc., especially to Mrs. Moore’s caregiver, Paula Kafury.

Visitation will be held Tuesday (October 6, 2020) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. Randy Mercer officiating.
