Her son's birth certificate, as well as the 1880 US Federal census, show birth as St. Louis, MO. Her date of birth is taken from her mother's passport application. Father was William M. Conner, theatrical agent, listed with his family, wife Ada and child Mignon, as boarders at the Gilsey House in New York City in 1880. The Gilsey House, opened in 1872, was a former eight story, 300 room hotel located at Broadway and W. 29th. It is now an NYC landmark and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Along the same stretch were six theaters, likely a good location for her father's occupation. Perhaps the glamour and grandeur highly influenced Mignon, as she seemed to be inclined to expensive jewelry, clothing, and an extravagant life style. After her death in 1902, her two children were raised by her mother until at some point, the father, John Barnard, took back possession. Mignon's mother Ada, along with her sister Emma, performed on stage as the Webb sisters. I have not been able to locate a place of burial for Mignon but it likely may be Green-wood Cemetery where her mother is buried.
