Shirley Spencer, age 85 of Wall Lake, IA, passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2020, at Park View Rehabilitation Center in Sac City, IA. Shirley Ann Spencer was born on August 10, 1935, to parents Chester and Althea (Davis) Mallison in Carroll, IA. She attended grade school in Sac County. On March 24, 1952, she was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith in Wall Lake, IA.
On April 20, 1952, Shirley was united in marriage to Frederich (Fritz) Janssen in Auburn, IA. This union was blessed with two children: William and Kathryn. Shirley held various jobs throughout her life, including being a homemaker, working in the station with her husband, and helping him on the farm. Fritz passed away on December 25, 1978. Shirley then worked at the country store in Wall Lake for 20 years.
On January 9, 1981, Shirley married Rolland Spencer in Wall Lake. Together, they loved to travel and visit family members and friends. Shirley had many hobbies, including crocheting, baking, cake decorating, and gardening. She loved baking cakes and goodies for friends and family for parties and holidays. Shirley had a wonderful sense of humor that will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter Kathryn Rose Janssen of Wall Lake, IA; grandchildren: Khatijah Rae Amir Hakim, Isa Majid Amir Hakim, and Azri Shaqir Amir Hakim.
