John "Lincoln" L. Aleshire
July 29, 1928 - September 12, 2020

John Lincoln Aleshire, age 92, of Brighton, Mo, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2020, in the National Health Care Center in Joplin, Mo. He was born on July 29, 1928, and the last to pass of 15 children to Robert Nelson and Nola Marm Dickerson in Dade County, Mo. He attended Dadeville County School until he was 13, when he left home. He worked on farms and always liked talking about purchasing his first 1930 Model A car.

He loved telling stories about his life, and one of his favorites was his Army days from February 1951 to February 1954. He attended and graduated Baker’s school, where he served in the Korean War as a cook. He said the 4 Star General asked him to be his private cook. But Lincoln said that wouldn’t work for him and past on the offer. We asked him if he ever wondered how different his life would have been if he had taken the position. He said he had no regrets. He did always love to cook, and had many jobs in that profession. He also had many jobs doing farm work. He loved to work, and couldn’t understand at the age of 80, why no one would hire him! He always said, “If you keep your hands busy, it gives your mind time to rest.” This was when in 2008 he came to live with his son, John, where he lived in Brighton for 12 years until 6 days before his death. His daughter in law, Pam, had many talks with him about God, and going to Heaven. Lincoln always said, “You better be ready, because we never known when the Good Lord decides it’s our time.” Amen!

He was preceded in death by his parents, 14 brothers and sisters, and, infant daughter Carolyn Sue, daughters, Patty, and Delilah, and 2 grandchildren, Wendy, and infant William John. He is survived by his son, John Nelson Aleshire (Pam) of Brighton, Daughters, Judy Harris (Don) of Aurora, Marylynn Aleshire (Mark) of Warrensburg, Carol Sutton (Ed) of Kansas City; 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Pallbearers: John Michael Aleshire, Travis Aleshire, Hayden Aleshire, Aaron Jones, Aldean Aleshire, and Abrahm Aleshire.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00, Saturday, September 19, 2020 at the Corry Cemetery in Dadeville under the direction of Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Corry Cemetery Fund 1132 E. Dade 54, Dadeville, MO 65635.
