James Lathrop, 73 years, 10 months, 29 days old, passed away on September 29, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Mo.
“Bullet” was born October 30, 1946 in Ava, Mo to Russell James and Oma Catherine (Engle) Lathrop.
“Bullet” was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and served during the Vietnam War.
“Bullet” was retired from working at Pinegar Chevrolet in Republic, MO for 27 years. He was a member of the Springfield Shriners and the Douglas County Memorial Veteran’s Association. He was a Christian.
“Bullet”was preceded in death by his parents, step-dad, Bill Jefferson, one sister, Wanda “Snooks” Jenkins and his best friend, Dwight Heath.
He is survived by his sister Rose Zella Myers and Claude Morton of Ava, Mo, niece and husband, Deannetta & Kenny Burress, nephews and their spouses, Telly & Stephanie Jenkins and Cory & Rachel Jenkins, great nieces and nephews, Clayton & Hannah Hodges & Katie Hodges, Alex & Zoe Jenkins, Jerrica, Jrayen, and Ahva Jenkins. Also great great nephews, James Nash & Leo Hodges and many friends, and special cousins, and close friend Rick Rikard.
Funeral services for “Bullet” will be Saturday, October 10, 2020 at 10:30 A.M. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO with burial following in the Ava Cemetery with full military honors by the Troy Herd American Legion #112 and U.S. Air Force. A visitation will be prior to service Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to service time in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor John Goldman. Memorials may be made to the Ava United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 356, Ava, MO.
