The son of the late Richard Edward and Hazel Kellogg Hays, he was born September 25, 1939 at Stigler, Oklahoma and passed away October 11, 2016 in an Ardmore nursing facility.
Richard served in the US Army for two years before being honorably discharged January 1964. He continued serving in the US Army Reserves till being honorably discharged in December 1967.
He worked for the Pepsi Bottling Company in Ardmore for several years and then began working with his brother in their landscaping business.
He is survived by his daughter Mary Rosenberger, brother Tom Hays; sister Ann Richards and several nieces.
