This marker is in the row of Henry Pickens Matlock. From left to right: Hattie Matlock McIllwain, Doyle Ray Talley, Henry Pickens Matlock, Lucy Matlock, space, this marker, Vester B., and Avis K. The names appears to me more like "Amanda T. Owens." A date of 1896 is discernible in the rubbing. The 1873 birth year is supplied from family trees, probably based on the 1880 census and possibly family information. Amanda Matlock married Wiley Owens in 1893.
Her husband might be this Wiley Owens. At least this person lived in Nacogdoches County in 1900. However, there is an apparently different Wiley Owens, born circa 1874 in Texas, the son of Stephen Owens and Mary Jane Riley. His burial is unknown, but his brother Sidney Owens is buried in this cemetery.
