LENORE, W. Va. — Johnny Fields, 76, of Lenore, passed away Fri., Dec. 20, 2013, at his home. Born January 14, 1937, at Martin County, Ky., he was a son of the late William Wesley and Angeline Maynard Fields. Also preceding him in death was a son, Greg W.W. Fields; sister, Bessie Fields, and brothers, Cecil, Jessie, Clayton and Ronnie Fields.
Johnny was a member of the Ajax Church of the Lord Jesus Christ where he served as Deacon and a Sunday School Superintendent. He was also a retired coal miner have worked in the mines for more than 30 years. Johnny loved his church and he loved his family.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Phyllis Parsley Fields; sons, David (Vanessa) Bartram of Holden, Johnny Jr. (Margaret) Fields of Sidney, Ky., and Greg Anthony Fields of Lenore; daughters, Donna (Warren) McClung of Lenore, Bitha (Randle) Miller of Danville, Lori (Shawn) Goff of Lenore, Patricia Gail Fields of Charlotte, N.C., and Tiera Fields of Williamson; brothers, Jeff (Carolyn) Fields of Ragland, and Charles (Debbie) Fields of Chattaroy; sisters, Glenda Meade of Williamson, Verna Chapman of Delbarton, and Rosie Shull of Georgetown, Ky.; 39 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Mon., Dec. 23, at Ajax Church of the Lord Jesus Christ with Rev. Josh Hall and Rev. Sonny Diamond officiating. Burial will follow in the Fields Cemetery at Beauty, Ky.
Visitation will begin after 5 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
