BEEKMAN, LA. Funeral services for Mr. Calvin Bennies Allen, age 84, of the Beekman Community will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 2, 2020 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop with Bro. Mike Chain officiating. Committal services and burial will follow at Hughes Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Friday beginning at 12:00 p.m. until time for services at Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop.

Calvin Bennies Allen was born at Oak Grove, Louisiana on June 9, 1936. He passed away, following a brief illness, on September 30, 2020 at his home in the Beekman Community. Mr. Allen was a member of Corinth Baptist Church. He served in the Army for 15 years where he obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant. During his service he was stationed in Korea, Germany, and he served two tours in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1974. Calvin returned home and worked as a pipeline inspector eventually retiring from Centerpoint Energy. Mr. Allen is preceded in death by his parents, Rosie Worley Allen and Robert Trenton Allen; son, Calvin Bennies Allen, Jr.; two step-sons, Melvin Wayne Hunter and Jamie Holland Hunter; two sisters, Gloria Jean Lair and Clara Allen; and two brothers, Charlie Allen and Willie Allen.

Mr. Allen is survived by his wife of twenty-five years, Nora Jean Allen; step-son, Robert Hunter and his wife Laura; three children, Robert Joe Allen, Laura Ann Taylor, and Tammy Gail Allen; sister, Mary Davis; three brothers, Rev. Otha Allen, James E. Allen, and Bobby Ray Allen; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Serving as pallbearers are Ricky Tharpe, Mitchell Hunter, Freddie Hunter, Louis Tharpe, Jabo Neathery, and Ronald Long. Honorary pallbearers are Wayne Hatfield and Liz Willis.
