He married Ellen Tatspaw the daughter of George and Frances Mary (Dean) Tatspaw. They married 20 Jan 1873 in Floyd County, Indiana.

They had together seven children: George A., Maggie Alice, Charley, Arthur James, Willie, Julia May, and Mary Hattie Babcock.

Taylor died sometime after January 1920 and prior to 1930 probably in New Madrid, Missouri. He may be buried at either East Side (Denhart), Latham, or Evergreen Cemetery, but burial information for him hasn't been found. His death record has yet to be located.

He has been mistakenly confused with another man of the same name and approximate age that lived and is buried in Cleveland, Ohio. Family histories should be changed if they have been based on the other Zachary Taylor Babcock of Cleveland, Ohio.
