Vera Marie “Opal” Slusher age 86, passed away September 29, 2020 at Henderson Health & Rehabilitation Center.

She was born March 3, 1934 in Bad Creek, Kentucky the daughter of the late Claude and Mary Sparks Caldwell. She grew up in Kentucky. She married Gilbert Slusher and they moved to Chicago in 1963. They moved to Enville, TN in 1980, she was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening and raising flowers.

Mrs. Slusher is survived by three sons, Howard Slusher of Enville, Carl Slusher (Bethany) of Lexington and Tinsley Slusher (Tonya) of Westville, IN; a daughter, Debbie Caldwell of Savannah; twelve grandchildren, Jackie Slusher, Kyle Slusher, Shannon Slusher, Nicholas Slusher, Gilbert Slusher, Frank Crumwell, Lisa Hemny, Gus Robbins, Jr., Steven Caldwell, Kristin Caldwell, Brian Caldwell and Timothy Caldwell and five great grandchildren and a brother, Virgil Caldwell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Slusher in 1984, a brother, Richard Caldwell and a sister, Marie Wiggins.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 6th at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Carl Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in Roby Cemetery.
