Rhoda Merrinda Moe was born on June 17, 1922 on the family farm south of Brooten, the daughter of Nels and Laura (Severide) Jensen. She grew up near Brooten where she attended country grade school and Brooten High School. On November 3, 1941 Rhoda was united in marriage to Chester B. Moe. They made their home in Brooten before moving to Minneapolis in 1954. She worked for the University of Minnesota as a baker in Coffman Union where she was famous for her cinnamon rolls and chocolate cake. Rhoda and Chester were able to share in 37 years of marriage before his death on December 18, 1978. She retired from the U of M in 1986 and moved to Spicer.

Rhoda was a member of South Lake Johanna Lutheran Church and attended Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer while living in Spicer. She enjoyed dancing, traveling, campfires with family, cooking for guests and spending time with her family.

Rhoda died March 17, 2017 at the Knute Nelson Care Center in Alexandria at the age of 94. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Codner of Mounds View; grandchildren, Gordon (Karen) Landwehr, Randall Landwehr (Sharon), Darci Kotlarz and Neil (Stacie) Worden; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Donald Madsen and Robert Imsdahl and sister-in-law, Nancy Moe. She was preceded in death by husband, Chester; special friend, Daty Kaack; brother, Norman; sisters, Judy Madsen and Annabelle Imsdahl and Chester’s siblings.
